After graduating from Butler in 2005, followed by an ER fellowship and her masters from the University of Texas, Katie Beaudoin obtained her Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) degree from Butler University in 2021. Her concentration was in medical science and administration with a capstone focus on multimodal pain therapy and opioid avoidance. Katie has held multiple faculty positions throughout her career which include the University of Texas McGovern Medical School and Baylor College of Medicine. While living in Indianapolis she taught as adjunct faculty in the Butler MPAS program. She also continues to enjoy her clinical work caring for the critically ill patient at UT Health Medical School in Houston, Texas. Her extensive experience spans across several critical care specialties.
Her philanthropic spirit has been successful by founding a non-for profit which provides durable medical equipment (DME) for non-funded and underfunded patients. She also has a passion for mentoring both new and experienced professionals in our field. Most recently, she has started a newsletter, Advanced Practice Pulse, aimed specifically to inform and create a network of colleagues (NPs & PAs) who share her desire to elevate the respective professions. The goal is designed to keep people informed about the latest developments in the healthcare industry, including news on medical breakthroughs, emerging legislative updates, advanced education and continuing education resources, advice for aspiring students, and inspirational highlights of colleagues who are paving the way for our profession(s).
I have worked in a variety of practice environments, including family practice, emergency medicine, military medicine, occupational medicine, cardiology, and clinical research. Academically I have taught in the classroom, online, and hybrid courses. I enjoy the intellectual challenge of academia and the personal interactions with the students.
